Brid (say: “breed”) is an ancient Celtic triple goddess – three sisters each named Brid. The Krewe of Brid is a marching club founded in the wake of the 2005 levee failures in New Orleans to celebrate the strength, wisdom and creativity of women. This krewe marches in Lakeview. The Krewe of Brid also honors the Irish immigrants to New Orleans whose work building the New Basin Canal set the stage for the founding of the Lakeview neighborhood.
