Rebecca Marshall Ferris

Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1976, Rebecca Marshall Ferris attended the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City. Her thesis film, Jonah and the Wail, about jazz trumpeter, Jonah Jones, was awarded an Independent Feature Project Market Award and was broadcast on the Independent Film Channel.

Rebecca has served as a cameraperson, editor, and producer on many non-fiction projects. From 1999 through 2006, Rebecca worked with the world-renowned documentary film company, Pennebaker Hegedus Films, serving as associate producer on their films Startup.com, Only The Strong Survive, and Elaine Stritch at Liberty, which won two primetime Emmy Awards and was broadcast on HBO. She most recently produced the Pennebaker Hegedus Films production, Al Franken: God Spoke (directed by Nick Doob and Chris Hegedus). As a cameraperson for the online music series, AOL Sessions, she filmed such artists as Robert Plant, Natalie Imbruglia, Me’Shell NdegéOcello, Nelly, and others. Rebecca filmed and edited interviews with British New Wave pioneers Depeche Mode for the DVD release of Depeche Mode 101. In 2001, Rebecca worked with the filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen as an associate producer on the film Down From The Mountain, which told the stories of the bluegrass musicians featured in their film, O Brother Where Art Thou. In 2004, she produced the program Fox vs Franken for the Sundance Channel’s series on the First Amendment. Rebecca traveled through the U.S., Europe and Taiwan to produce a film for Coca-Cola about memorabilia collectors. She also recently served as a segment editor on the HBO series Addiction.

Rebecca is currently making Miller’s Tale, a documentary about the actor and playwright, Jason Miller.
