Christy Phebus

A native of New Orleans, Christy Phebus discovered her love of cooking in Indiana working at first on the savory side as a line cook. She returned to the Crescent city to attend the Culinary Institute of New Orleans and got her first taste of the sweet side of the kitchen at Muriel’s Jackson Square Restaurant with pastry chef Nolan Ventura. Having found her calling, Christy then went on to train under Joy Jessup at the Windsor Court. She then worked as an assistant to the pastry chef at John Besh’s restaurant August. After that, Christy became a pastry chef herself at Cobalt where she worked with Susan Spicer for the first time. Though she worked at other restaurants following Hurricane Katrina, Christy jumped at the chance to work with Chef Spicer and her team again at Bayona, where her desert creations are the perfect counterpoint to Bayona’s famous dishes.
